Follicular dynamics in zebu cattle PAB
VIANA,JOÃO HENRIQUE MOREIRA; FERREIRA,ADEMIR DE MORAES; SÁ,WANDERLEI FERREIRA DE; CAMARGO,LUIZ SÉRGIO DE ALMEIDA.
The aim of this study was to investigate the follicular dynamics during estrous cycle in Gir breed (Bos indicus) cows. Follicular growth and atresia during estrous cycle were evaluated using a portable ultrasound device. Luteal activity was evaluated by serum progesterone levels. Cycles with two (6.67%), three (60.00%), four (26.67%) and five (6.67%) follicular waves were observed. There was no difference (P>0.05) in dominant or subordinate follicles growth or atresia rates among follicular waves. The maximum diameter of the ovulatory follicle was higher than the diameter of the other dominant follicles in cycles with four waves, and higher than the diameter of the second dominant follicle in cycles with three waves (P<0.05). There was no difference...

Histological study of capuchin monkey (Cebus apella) ovarian follicles Acta Amazonica
Domingues,Sheyla Farhayldes Souza; Diniz,Luiz Viana; Furtado,Sonia Helena Costa; Ohashi,Otavio Mitio; Rondina,David; Silva,Lúcia Daniel Machado.
The present study aimed to obtain quanti-qualitative data about the follicular ovarian population in Cebus apella females. Seven ovaries were obtained from 4 C. apella adult females. The ovaries were subjected to light microscopy. The number of preantral and antral follicles for each ovary was estimated using the Fractionator method. The preantral follicles were classified into primordial, transitional, primary and secondary follicles. Antral follicles were those that presented an antral cavity. All counted follicles were classified as normal or degenerated. The diameter of the follicles, oocytes and their nuclei were determined to accompany the follicular development. All results were represented as mean ± SE. The number of preantral follicles was 56,938...

Morphologic and Morphometric Analysis of the Ovary of Black Bengal Goat (Capra hircus) International Journal of Morphology
Haque,Ziaul; Haque,Azimul; Quasem,Md. Abul.
Ovary plays the vital role in the reproductive biology and biotechnology of female animals. With the aim to study the ovarian morphometry of Black Bengal goat, both right and left ovaries were collected from the slaughter houses of different Thanas under Mymensingh district. For each of the specimens, gross parameters such as weight, length and width were recorded. Then they were processed and stained with H & E for histomorphometry. Our study revealed that the right ovary (0.53±0.02 g) was heavier than the left (0.52±0.02 g). The length of the right ovary (1.26±0.04 cm) was lower than the left (1.28±0.02 cm) but the width of the right (0.94±0.02 cm) was greater than the left (0.90±0.03 cm). The diameter of ovarian follicles in the cortex was...

Plasma urea nitrogen and progesterone concentrations and follicular dynamics in ewes fed proteins of different degradability R. Bras. Zootec.
Lazarin,Gustavo Bianchi; Alves,Nadja Gomes; Perez,Juan Ramon Olalquiaga; Lima,Renato Ribeiro de; Garcia,Iraides Ferreira Furusho; José Neto,Antônio; Vale,Daniel Navarro Cardoso do; Saunders,Gabriela de Abreu.
The effects of overfeeding with protein of different degradability on body condition, plasma urea nitrogen and progesterone concentrations, ovulation number and follicular dynamics were assessed in Santa Ines ewes. Twelve ewes were assigned to a randomized block design according to body weight and received overfeeding with soybean meal or with corn gluten meal or maintenance diet for 28 days before ovulation and during the next estrous cycle. Blood samples were taken on days 7, 14, 21, and 28 after the beginning of treatments for analysis of plasma urea nitrogen and on days 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15 into the estrous cycle for analysis of plasma urea nitrogen and progesterone. Follicular dynamics was monitored daily by ultrasound during one estrous cycle. Dry...

PRODUCTION OF OVOGONIA BY GERMINATIVE EPITHELIUM OF THE OVARY AT SOME MAMMALIA AND BIRDS Ciência Rural
Sincai,Mariana; Marcu,Adrian.
The studies were effected on ovaries from sows, cows, bitches, dous and hens. Our investigations revealed the generation of cellular rows of germinative epithelium into the cortex not only during the embrionary period but also in the adult ovary. The histological investigations revealed an intense proliferative process of the germinative epithelium of adult ovary which generated groups of ovogonia under the lamina basalis. From ovogonia developed oocytes and then ovarian follicles. The cause for the proliferation of ovary germinative epithelium could be: the multiple folliculary dehiscences, the premature degeneration of ovarian follicles and formation of the corpus luteum, phenomena that reduce continually the number of embrionary ovogonia.
